The CD Badminton Zamora continues to collect achievements and medals this season despite the more than notable influence of the pandemic on its development. A drawback that does not seem to influence the growth of this entity and its results in large tournaments, as was clear with the achievement of two new metals in the National Master celebrated on Santander last weekend.

The Zamorano club displaced this appointment in el Palace of Sports of Santander to its two most representative rackets in the senior category, Aitor Llandrés Y Raul Lopez, to face several of the best athletes from the rest of the provinces. A tough test that the Zamoranos far exceeded both individually and collectively.

Llandrés and Raúl López ran different lots separately in their respective paintings. On category A1 (30 to 35 years old) Aitor Llandrés got a valuable bronze medal in the men’s individual category. A medal that could have had even better color since, in the fight for silver against Fran Casado (UVA), everything was decided by small details in an evenly demanding match, with very long points. Finally, the Zamorano was defeated by 22-20 in the third set, climbing to the third drawer of the podium. Meanwhile in category A2 (from 35 to 40 years old), Raúl López reached the quarterfinal round with options to continue passing the qualifiers and thus reach the fight for the medals. However, this time he was not as successful as in previous matches and could not overcome his opponent, obtaining a fifth place that left him with a bittersweet taste in his mouth.

To these good results was added a new medal in the modality of men’s doubles, category A1. In this box, the couple formed by Aitor Llandrés and Raúl López got the second metal for Badminton Zamora, again hanging a bronze medal. The Zamoranos competed at an excellent level and had options to finish leading the podium in which they occupied the last drawer, however, in the semifinals, the pair that ultimately won the championship left out Llandrés and López. A sweet defeat because it was still a podium for Zamora in competition at the national level, a new success for this sport in a province that has an increasing level in this discipline.
