A first victory at the Champions for Mike Weir

Canadian golfer Mike Weir won the Insperity Invitation, a PGA Champions Tour tournament, on Sunday in Texas.

This is the Ontarian’s first victory on the circuit for athletes aged 50 and over. It is also the first time Weir has won an event since the Open Fry’s Electronics in 2007.

As for the most recent victory, the Sarnia native won with a cumulative score of 134 (-10). He beat the Americans John Daly, Tim Petrovic and David Toms by two strikes.

On Sunday, the winner handed out a card of 68 (-4). He pulled off an eagle and five birdies. He also committed three bogeys.

Weir is the fourth Maple Leaf representative to win on the Champions Tour, after Dave Barr, Rod Spittle and Stephen Ames.
