César Prieto, considered one of the best talents in Cuban baseball, abandoned his country’s delegation on Wednesday just hours after arriving in the United States. “The player left our delegation participating in the pre-Olympic tournament in Florida, United States”, said the Cuban Baseball Federation in a note published by JIT, a press organ of the Institute of Sports of Cuba (Inder). The 22-year-old leaves his team after the Cuban delegation, made up of 41 members, went through a complicated process of obtaining visas for the United States. In the note published by the JIT, the federation criticizes the decision taken by Prieto, believing it “ contrary to the commitment made to the people and the team ”.
