Werder prevailed against Fürth

Mit Power and repeat offender Kevin Möhwald for the fourth quarter-finals in a row: Werder Bremen lived up to its role as favorites in the DFB-Pokal round of 16 against SpVgg Greuther Fürth.

The team of coach Florian Kohfeldt beat the second division club on Tuesday evening after a committed performance 2-0 (1-0) and, in addition to the continued chance of the seventh cup triumph, also secured a welcome prize in the millions.

Möhwald brought his team on course with the opening goal after a corner (12th), the midfielder had already scored against Schalke (1: 1) on Saturday. The second division club briefly lost order with the deficit and Sargent had the great opportunity to quickly increase with Lupfer, but forgave (16). Two minutes later, Ludwig Augustinsson hit the post from an acute angle.

After that the guests got more and more. Fürth, who eliminated TSG Hoffenheim in the second round of the cup, noticeably increased the intensity at the beginning of the second half. After Augustinsson had a header chance (51st), Anton Stach had the Franconian’s first real opportunity (55th), Havard Nielsen was then even closer to equalizing (60th). But shortly before the beginning of the final phase, Agus Hit took the wind out of the sails of the Fürthers.
