The most famous Latvian bodybuilder AIvars Visockis is disqualified for anti-doping violations

A substance of group S2 – human chorionic gonadotropin – has been detected in the body of Visocka. Currently, the athlete is already 63 years old.

Doping control, in which this substance was found in Visock’s analyzes, took place within the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness (IFBB) International Latvian Cup “Riga Pearl 2017” competition on November 19, 2017. In this bodybuilding competition, Visockis won third place.

The start of the disqualification period is determined from this competition until November 18, 2021.

LBFBF President Kristīne Vederņikova confirmed that the disqualification was appropriate for Latvian bodybuilding legend Aivars Visockis. She said the case was complicated and long.

“There was a possibility that the substance originated in the body due to some peculiarities of the body. So the athlete was forced to walk for a long time to see the medical institutions. Now the decision is made – it is a four-year disqualification, but I believe Visockis is strong and will endure, “says Vedernikov.

“This doping case was a little different than usual,” LAB expert Roberts Lauris said in a conversation with LETA. “World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) regulations require that an Athlete be contacted in the presence of such a substance, as it may be related to the Athlete’s health. Medical specialists and additional tests should be performed to rule out this possibility.”

Lauris regrets that with the reorganization of the office and changes in the legislation in the field of sports, the decision-making in this case has been delayed, and the decision in the case was made only this year.

“After evaluating all the materials, the LAB decided that the disqualification is still applicable and that its term is four years,” said Lauris.

Visock’s result in the 2017 competition “Riga Pearl 2017” has been canceled.
