NBA: Kawhi Leonard and many threesomes

The LA Clippers stay hot and win their stint in the Big Apple. Best man is Kawhi Leonard.

Sixth Man Lou Williams also sets a new NBA record – and displaces JJ Barea from the history books.

New York Knicks (9-12) – L.A. Clippers (16-5) 115:129

  • Thanks to a high hit rate at the beginning of the game, the Knickerbockers kept up well and even went into the break with a 66:65 lead. But then the guests took command: Kawhi Leonard (28 points, 8/15 FG) and Reggie Jackson (18 points) each scored ten points in the third period of the game. It got tight again at the beginning of the last quarter, but thanks to a very good three-man quota (17/38), the Clippers brought the game home – it was the tenth win in the eleventh game for Kawhi, Paul George and Co.
  • In the Knicks three players scored at least 23 points: Julius Randle (27, 12 and 5), RJ Barrett (23 points) and guard Immanuel Quickley from the bench (25) did their best, but in the end the best defense on points was the league dismantled by the LA giant.
  • The Clippers had to do without Nicolas Batum (groin). Patrick Patterson moved into the team – and convinced in 20 minutes with a perfect hit rate (5/5 FG, 3/3 from outside) and 13 points.
  • Lou Williams only got 9 points from the bench for the guests (3/9 FG), but set a record with 5 assists: For the 250th time in his career he gave at least 5 assists from the bench – and outbid thus the record of the former Maverick Guard JJ Barea.
