DETROIT – Second baseman Jonathan Schoop stays with the Detroit Tigers, having agreed to a one-year contract on Friday.
Last year, the 29-year-old hit for .278 with eight home runs and 23 RBIs.
In the previous four seasons, he has always hit at least 21 long balls.
“I’m grateful to remain a member of the Tigers,” said Schoop.
“The group is very good. The results were encouraging last year, and we will be taking the next step this season. “
Detroit posted a 23-35 performance in 2020.
“Jonathan really impressed us last year. We look forward to counting on him again, said Managing Director Al Avila. He impressed on the pitch but also as a leader, with a constant desire to contribute. “
