Deportivo Independiente Medellín defeated Bucaramanga 0-1 as a visitor, on the third date of Liga I-2021. The powerful one was patient and after a good match shot, Matías Mier scored the goal that puts the Antioquia team among the eight, with six points out of nine possible.
Without seven of its starters, Independiente Medellín went to the Alfonso López de Bucaramanga court. With many homegrown players, the powerful did not manage to be deep on the local goal, just three medium-distance shots, far from the reach of Juan Camilo Chaverra, were the approaches of those led by Hernán Darío Gómez.

At minute 32, Medellín had the clearest opportunity, after Agustín Vuletich, took advantage of a filtered pass from James Sánchez, the Argentine who had been on the court for a minute, eluded goalkeeper Chaverra and, having no shooting angle, made a cross into the area girl for James Sánchez to finish off the ball at speed, but goalkeeper Chaverra managed to avoid the powerful goal.
About the 40th minute and after a counterattack by Independiente Medellín, the ball passed from left to right, where Robert Harrys sent a cross into the area so that Agustín Vuletich pivoted the ball and it was left to Matías Mier, who defined with solvency to go ahead on the scoreboard.
In the end, the Antioquia team knew how to work a game that in the first half had been complicated, but in the second, with the entry of several regular starters, they managed to take advantage of the wear of the premises, to take their second victory in the League that allows you to settle in the top eight of the table. Bucaramanga generated options, but it was not deep, it was from more to less and did not know how to take advantage of the spaces that its rival gave it in the midfield.
On the next date, Atlético Bucaramanga will face América de Cali as a visitor. While Independiente Medellín will face Millonarios, next Thursday at the Atanasio.
