In Paimpol, curfew prevents krav maga club from practicing

The Krav maga is a discipline founded in the 1930s by Imi Lichtenfeld, in Czechoslovakia. Even if it is inspired by many martial arts, it is first of all a method of close combat, a discipline of self-defense, which includes some techniques of judo, boxing, wrestling, Muay-Thai and ju-jitsu .

But, with the measures put in place against the epidemic and, as a contact sport, Krav maga can no longer be practiced. For the moment, the club paimpolais is therefore at a standstill.

“We fear for the lifespan of sports clubs”

The 35 licensees, including about ten women, met in Kerraoul 1, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 9 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. and on Saturdays, from 12:15 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. They first suffered the first confinement.

At the end of it, the club resumed and continued outdoor training throughout the summer, before the new season resumed in September. But the second confinement, then the curfew, forced him to once again cease all his activities.

Romuald Larroux, president, is not very optimistic about the future. “We had the idea of offering, once again, outdoor lessons, without bringing together. But, with the curfew hours, that was not possible. You can of course work solo, but the motivation is not the same. If the situation does not improve, we fear for the lifespan of sports clubs. “

For next season, seeing the crisis drag on, the club is considering offering a monthly membership to members and it is going further, by considering, if the club’s finances allow it, a partial refund of the 2020-2021 membership. .
