The departure of assistant Nicolas Frutos from Anderlecht had been in the air for a while and was therefore made official on Friday. MLS club DC United announced the arrival of 39-year-old Argentinian.
Frutos will become DC United’s assistant to his fellow countryman Hernan Losada, who made the switch from Beerschot last month. “I’ve known Nicolas for years and can only say good things about his character,” said Losada.
“We first played together in Argentina at Independiente and then had a similar continuation of our career in Europe.”
“Nicolas has been a very intelligent forward as a player. After his active career he worked hard to become a great tactician and coach. He combines his creative attacking brain with his experience to make young players better. He will be a valuable addition to our staff. . “
Nicolas Frutos came to Anderlecht for a third time in June last year. He was an acclaimed assistant to head coach Vincent Kompany this season. The Argentinian was active as a player between 2006 and 2010 for the Purple & White and was also head coach for 4 matches just before Hein Vanhaezebrouck took over.
