On another round of NBA action, Facundo Campazzo completed a very good roster and rounded off one of his best performances within his still brief foray into the North American Basketball League. The Cordovan accumulated several minutes of action in Denver’s huge victory over Utah by 128-117: the Jazz led the Western Conference – now they lost first place to the Clippers – and reached this match with a streak of 11 victories in row.

Campazzo closed a productive day with very good numbers: 11 points (3/5 from the field, with 2 triples, a double and 3 free), 2 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 fouls in 19 minutes of play. He had a somewhat bumpy start, when he suffered a foul from Australian Joe Ingles on the nose that did not happen to adults.

The Cordovan was soon loaded with fouls (3 in five minutes), an issue that he will have to correct in the medium term. But the injury of PJ Dozier and the departure of Gary Harris, also due to an ailment, allowed him to add more time on the court.

Denver took advantage early with an unusual rate of long-distance hits: he made 15 of 17 triples in the first half, an incredible mark to close with a 79-54 at the end of the second quarter, although then he dropped the intensity and did not come close to the NBA record (27 hits out of 3).

Campazzo re-entered at a key moment, because the Jazz got quite close in the account (99-91, to 8 points), in the second half of the third quarter, and in that period the Argentine made two triples, two free ones, and contributed a couple of assists in great form – including a luxury pass for Michael Porter Jr .- to restore peace to the Nuggets.

At the post-game press conference, Mike Malone, the Denver coach, was asked if any player feels intimidated after failing a triple attempt, as had happened to Campazzo, in a shot by the Argentine that did not even reach the basket. The coach replied with a laugh: “Facu have big balls, man.” After missing his first two shots, the Cordovan agreed with him by making his next three-point shots.

In the Nuggets, who have now improved their record to 12-8, the Serbian Nikola Jokic once again stood out, accumulating 47 points and equaling the best production of his career (13-22 in doubles, 4-4 in triples and 9 -10 in free), plus 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals. Will Barton added 18 points and Jamal Murray had 16 to help the Nuggets score their sixth win in seven games.

On the side of the Jazz, who now had a 15-5 record, the best came from the Croatian forward Bojan Bogdanovic (29 points), 4 rebounds and 2 assists.
