Clashes between Dominicans Al Horford and Karl Towns in the NBA

The centers of the Dominican Republic have faced each other 9 times in their career and it seems that unfortunately they will not see each other this Saturday since Towns is still out due to Covid-19

The Minnesota Timberwolves will visit tonight Oklahoma City Thunder from 9 pm, Dominican Republic time, 8pm US Eastern time.

This may have been the tenth historic confrontation between the Dominicans Karl Towns Y Al Horford, but the one of the TWolves is still out of action after being diagnosed with Covid-19 on January 15.

The pair’s first career meeting after KAT made it to the league (17pts and 12rebs) and Al Horford finished with 14 points and 6 rebounds.

The pick number of the draft of that year took the victory again despite having a worse game with only 6 points and 6 rebounds, while Horford had a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

21/Nov/2016 Minnesota 93 – Boston 99

The first victory for Horford, now with the Celtics, in these matches, finishing with 20 points and 6 rebounds, while KAT had one of his best games with 27 points and 18 rebounds.

15/Mar/2017 Boston 117 – Minnesota 104

In the second game of the season Karl Towns scored 17, grabbed 14 rebounds and dished out 4 assists, while Horford was close to a triple-double with 20 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists.

5/Ene/2018 Boston 91 – Minnesota 84

We had to wait a little longer in the season to see the Dominicans in the same game but Horford still took the victory with a discreet performance of 7 points, 5 rebounds but added 8 assists, while Towns 25 points and got 23 rebounds in the defeat.

Another victory for Horford who finished with 20 points, 8 rebounds and assists, while KAT had a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

1/Dic/2018 Minnesota 109 – Boston 118

Score similar to the last game but the same victory for Horford’s team who scored 15 points while Towns had 20 and had 9 rebounds.

2/Ene/2019 Boston 115 – Minnesota 102

Practically a month later, KAT did everything with 28 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists, but could not prevent the victory of the Al Horford Celtics, who scored 15 points with 5 rebounds.

30/Oct/2019 Minnesota 95 – Philadelphia 117

New team for Al Horford, same result. Victory for the Sixers in the only game between the two teams, a team where Alfred Joel made his debut with 12 points and 16 rebounds, while Towns only scored 13 and got 6 rebounds.

In the 2020-21 season, there have been two games to date between the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Oklahoma City Thunder, Al Horford’s new team, who for the first time in his career plays in the Western Conference. We will have to wait for the second part of the regular season, if we want to see clashes between the two Dominicans.
