BVB has to think about an alternative for coach Edin Terzic

After the next setback, Mats Hummels expressed his opinion openly as usual. This time, however, he brushed them against the grain.

“Since Edin started working as head coach, a lot of things have gotten much better – only the results are unfortunately not right,” said Dortmund’s defense chief after the 1: 2 at SC Freiburg – and explicitly took coach Edin Terzic under protection.

The mood among many BVB fans is different. Even for the favorite opponent, against whom Dortmund had 16 wins and 3 draws in the past 19 duels, it is not enough. It’s boiling a lot.

Moukoko puts the rest of the group to shame

It is shameful for the rest of the team that a 16-year-old is making more steam in Youssoufa Moukoko than the rest of the group, tweeted a black and yellow follower.

Some demanded eleven Kevin Großkreutz on the pitch and a correspondingly different mentality.

When it comes to criticism, coach Edin Terzic is no longer left out.

Terzic can boast four wins from nine games – only. Many say: predecessor Lucien Favre could have done that too. At least.

Much more important, however, is the question: How will Terzic continue, will the inexperienced head coach manage the financially important qualification for the Champions League?

The doubts are increasing and are appropriate.

Terzic can’t turn problems off

It is correct: Under Terzic, the team appears a bit more combative and robust than under tactical nerd Favre. That alone is not enough.

Terzic does not manage to turn off the blatant bad passes of his players – above all Julian Brandt. Under him, BVB remains too susceptible to conceding goals. Do top performers like captain Marco Reus continue to do their job. This star-studded team is a fragile structure without constancy. Lack of tactical means and bite against passionately defending teams.

Basically everything is the same as before. Or rather worse.

Terzic may not be the main problem, but he can’t get the problems under control.

After SPORT1-Information, the BVB managers around managing director Hans-Joachim Watzke and sports director Zorc want to contest the rest of the season with Terzic with full conviction and not make any further coach changes.

In summer it can be too late

The composition of the team has been identified as the basic evil. There, the lever should be applied in the summer, then probably with a new coach – possibly Marco Rose from Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Only by then it could be too late.

Because a missed Champions League qualification would have serious effects – especially in the economically difficult Corona period. Jadon Sancho and an exceptional player like Raphael Guerreiro would then be hard to keep.

It would be negligent not to consider an alternative in the dugout. So BVB runs blindly to doom.
