Australian Open 2021: candidates to win in women and men – Tennis – Sports

Novak Djokovic, leader of the ATP rankings, is the main candidate to win the Australian Open title and achieve his ninth crown in Melbourne. In the bookmakers he leads with force.

Reigning champion Djokovic was solid in both games he played in the ATP Cup. He beat the young Denis Shapovalov and Alexander Zverev, although he must increase his pace of play, because in the long rallies he was diminished.

The final triumph of Djokovic would pay at 2.10 per euro bet in Marca Apuestas, while in another house like Marathon I would give 2.5 for every euro.

Behind him the favoritism is distributed. If it is by name, Rafael Nadal, second in the ATP ranks, and that he is going for his 21st grand slam title to be the most winner in history, taking advantage of Roger Federer’s injury loss, would be the second Title candidate, but this year he has not played and was out due to physical discomfort from the ATP Cup.

In Marca Apuestas, Nadal has a 6.00 odd if he wins it, like Dominic Thiem, last year’s finalist and recent US Open winner. In Marathon is of fourth favorite at the bookmaker behind Daniil Medvedev and Thiem.

The women’s team does not have a strong candidate. In the deck are the Australian and number one in the world, Ashleigh Barty, Romanian Simona Halep (2nd), Americans Serena Williams (11th) and Sofia Kenin (4th), defending champion, and the Spanish Garbiñe Muguruza (15.ª).

The doubles Juan Sebastián Cabal and Robert Farah will play for Colombia, who start as favorites for the title, which eluded them in 2018.
