Athletics acquires Elvis Andrus from Rangers in exchange for Khris Davis

Oakland Athletics is acquiring Texas Rangers shortstop Elvis Andrus in exchange for designated hitter / outfielder Khris Davis, the teams announced on Saturday.

In addition to Andrus, athletics will receive Aramis Garcia catches and money. The Rangers will have two potential clients in the exchange, wide receiver Jonah Heim and right-hander Dane Acker.

Andrus, 32, played for the Rangers throughout his 12-year major league career, winning two nods (2010 and 2012). Last season Andrus beat .194 / .252 / .330 with three homers in 29 games.

Davis, 33, has been in track and field since 2016. Last season he had a .200 / .303 / .329 line with two home runs. In 2018, Davis was named Outstanding DH of the Year.

As Jeff Passan reports from ESPN the Rangers are throwing money at the trade as Andrus is under contract until 2022 and owes $ 28.5 million. Davis, meanwhile, is making $ 13.75 million and will be a free agent at the end of the 2021 season.

Andrus is likely to slip into the gap again in the Athletic roster with shortstop Marcus Semien signing a one-year contract with the Toronto Blue Jays. Catalog
