What’s going on with Luka Doncic?

Luka Doncic was among the players announced among the big favorites to be MVP, but to say the least is that his first week of competition did not live up to those expectations. Against the Hornets he released one of his worst statistical performances with 12 points at 4/10 including 0/5 at 3-pts, 2 rebounds and 5 assists. Since the start of the season, he has posted a catastrophic 2/21 at 3-pts and has missed his last 10 attempts.

After the loss to Charlotte, he decided to return to the field for a shootout session.

“Obviously I have to do a lot better. I’m 21, it’s my 3rd season and I can improve so much. I can still prove so much, so I have to work on these shots every day, and if you work on them, they’ll come in eventually. That’s how I see things.” Luka Doncic

Author of a huge 2019-20 season, he started slowly like his team with 23.8 points at 43.8% including 9.5% at 3-pts, 5.8 rebounds and 6.3 assists in 30 minutes. During the preseason he explained that he was not in the best shape and that seems to be confirmed. When asked what the problem is, he retorts:

“I do not know. I think my legs are really tired. But that’s no excuse. ” Luka Doncic

Mark Cuban confided this week that Doncic was to take part in the qualifying matches for the Eurobasket, but in the end it did not happen and he was not able to train collectively as he would have liked.

“It was difficult to train in Slovenia. Everything was closed, but the halls were open, so there is no excuse. ” Luka Doncic

After the defeat to the Hornets, Rick Carlisle has been bombarded with questions about the star and his disappointing start to the season.

“It’s clear that Luka doesn’t have his pace yet, and everyone is going through something like that at this point in the season. But there is one thing that is certain this year in the league is that every time you step on the field you have to give everything every moment or else you will get your ass kicked. ” Rick carlisle

But we don’t worry too much about the Mavs

“He has a winning mentality and every day in training he gives himself. Guys like him go through times like this, but he’s an All-Star, he’s a superstar and he’s going to bounce back. I don’t think we need to worry about it. ” Maxi Kleber

“The solution is patience. Luka has to keep playing. He is moving in the right direction. ” Rick carlisle
