Vendée Globe: surpassing oneself and technological challenge

80 days and as many packets of sea, nights of anguish, loneliness, courage, damage, and for two of them an epic rescue. It was a somewhat crazy edition this year of the Vendée Globe, the only non-stop, unassisted solo sailing race that we will come back to today, and which ended last night, in Les Sables d ‘ Olonne, for the first competitors.

How could these men hold out? How far can surpassing oneself take these athletes, helped by increasingly efficient technology?
