Tottenham Hotspur embarked on the Premier League Cup final after a 2-0 win over Brentford at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Wednesday (6/1/2020) early morning Western Indonesian Time. The two goals were obtained from Moussa Sissoko and Son Heung-min.

This is the first final for Tottenham since reaching the top match of the Champions League in 2018/2019 ago. If you count the last time the north London club lifted the trophy in 2007/2008, this is the fourth final.

Tottenham won the Premier League Cup in 2007/2008, then twice to the final of the competition in 2008/2009 and 2014/2015 but lost to Manchester United and Chelsea. While in the 2018/2019 Champions League final, Harry Kane and his friends fell from Liverpool.

Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jamie Redknapp called this final a chance to turn Spurs into a true champion team. With Jose Mourinho’s experience and strong mentality, Tottenham can start to be more familiar with finals and trophies.

“This means a lot to Mourinho and the whole club in trying to change their mentality. Now is a great opportunity for him,” he was quoted as saying Sky Sports.

“They will have to face an extraordinary team, be it Manchester City or Manchester United in the final. But that’s where they want to be. It’s been more than 12 years since this club won the trophy, which is too long.”

“Fans today will all be brainwashed by the thought of going into the Champions League and the money that will go to the club. But when you look back at your career you want to win trophies. So for Spurs, this is a massive statement,” added Jamie Redknapp. .

Jose Mourinho has been to the Premier League Cup final four times and has never failed to win it. He won three times with Chelsea and once with Manchester United.

Since its establishment in 1882, Tottenham Hotspur has won a total of 24 top-level competition trophies. In comparison, Jose Mourinho has won a total of 25 trophies during his career as a manager which began in 2000.
