Thomas Tuchel has just been inaugurated as Chelsea’s new manager. The man from Germany was immediately hit by criticism and his credibility was questioned.
Tuchel became a substitute for Frank Lampard in the Chelsea manager’s chair. Previously, Lampard was fired for failing to lift the team’s performance.
Since November, Chelsea’s appearance has indeed declined. Of the last 11 matches in all competitions, the Blues have only won 4 wins, five defeats and two draws. Chelsea itself is now stuck in 9th place in the Premier League standings.
Now, Tuchel has a tough job at Chelsea. In addition to returning Chelsea to the top flight, he will do a series of tough matches, including in the Champions League, when he faces Atletico Madrid in the last 16.
Tuchel himself was recently fired from PSG. The former Mainz 05 and Borussia Dortmund coach was originally quite successful in France, being able to present two Ligue 1 trophies, two French Super Cup titles, and one French Cup trophy each and the French League Cup.
Tuchel also brought Neymar et al to the 2019/2020 Champions League final. However, Les Parisiens were beaten by Bayern Munich in the top round. However, this was not dazzling enough for Harry Redknapp.
Redknapp, who is also Frank Lampard’s uncle, thinks Tuchel is not a world-class coach. This he made, responding to pundit’s comments Sky Sports, Gary Neville, that there will be top coaches coming to England.
“I heard Gary Neville recently said they would have a great manager come to the league. Who said he was a great manager?” said Redknapp, reported by the Daily Star.
“Winning the PSG title in France doesn’t make you great. What’s the proof?”
“You deserve to win the title if you coach PSG. Only time will tell how good he is,” explained Redknapp.
