The Vila do Arenteiro school will continue with the split day next year

The CPR Vila do Arenteiro de O Carballiño will continue in the next course with the split day. The families of the students came yesterday to vote if they preferred the single day or the morning and afternoon classes are maintained, and due to insufficient eight supports, the latter will continue. 123 families went to the polls and 90 votes were counted in favor of the continuous day and 33 against, but to carry out this change, 98 ballots in favor were necessary.

The Vila do Arenteiro School Parents Association invited all families to come and vote, and “decide on the future of our children”. They recall that the debate on the continuous day “I am always there”, and that COVID produced important changes in school life, leading many educational centers with split hours to implement the continuous day during this pandemic.

This school year was one of several changes for this educational center in O Carballiño in which the entry time was modified due to a problem with transportation and, as a result of COVID, the entry and exit times are different, and lacks after-school activities.

But for the next course the split day will continue, despite the fact that the majority of those who went to the polls yesterday voted against, but in the absence of only eight more votes there will be no changes for now. And it is that 46 families did not go to the polls. However, from the direction of the center Ana Mouro does not rule out future calls to the polls in this matter.

The center accepted to receive proposals for types of after-school activities, and from the ANPA they are drawing up a list, open to all families: robotics, creating video games, chess, basketball, handball, badminton, and more.
