The Raptors certainly don’t have the start to the season they were hoping for.

On Monday, the Toronto team suffered another loss, bringing their record to 1-5. This is the second worst performance in the entire NBA today. Only the Pistons (1-6) have done worse so far.

This time around, Nick Nurse’s side suffered a 126-114 loss to the Celtics. Still, the Raptors got off to a good start, taking a 32-23 lead in the first quarter.

However, things got worse in the second quarter, dominated 38-14 by the Celtics. At halftime, Boston was leading 61-46.

The second half was closer, but Toronto was never able to tighten the score significantly.

Fred VanVleet had a strong game, however, collecting 35 points (one point less than his personal best) and eight rebounds. Pascal Siakam meanwhile finished the game with 22 points and six rebounds. Kyle Owry, for his part, had 18 points, five assists and five rebounds.

For the Celtics, Jayson Tatum was the hero of the game, with a harvest of 40 points.

After the meeting, Fred VanVleet commented on the horrible start to the season for his people. The 26-year-old point guard said he’s never been in a situation like this. However, he said he was aware that no one would come to the aid of the Raptors. It’s up to the players to do an introspection in order to get out of the trouble.

The Toronto team will play their next game on Wednesday when they visit the Phoenix Suns. The task is not going to be easy for the Raptors, as the Arizona team have just won their four most recent games. The Suns are 5-2 since the start of the campaign.
