Troh and Sawk, Pokémon of the week # 35

Have you ever thought about enrolling in martial arts courses? Why spend money when you could catch fighting-type Pokémon Throh (Throh Nageki) e Sawk (Sawk Dageki), Pokémon Judo and Karate, to let them train you!

Both species are composed exclusively of male specimens and are seen as counterparts of each other. The Troh are certainly the most loved of the company, as in the wild they always move and train in groups of 5, even if the members of the group who lag behind the others take off their belts and leave the group. The Sawks, on the other hand, prefer to train alone in the mountains, also because they hate being disturbed while they train. His shots are often heard by those hiking in the mountains.

The Troh often pick fights with opponents bigger than themselves, because they feel the urge to throw them away. The Sawks instead want the perfect karate strike, which according to some legends would open the ocean in two. Members of both species pull the belt they carry around their waist to energize themselves. The belt is made of branches and leaves.

The look

The Troh are ‘mon with a big and red body, wearing a black and white judogi (collar and patches at the knees), with lines that form diamonds in the sleeves. . Their head is round, and they have a black T-shaped bump on their face. The eyes have white sclera and black iris. The limbs are sturdy, the hands are round and have three rounded fingers. The feet also have three toes. Their skin is as hard as that of a rock. The chromatic specimens have orange skin.

The Sawks are slender and blue in color, and wear a black and white judogi (collar and rectangular patches at the knees), with lines forming diamonds in the sleeves. Their head is oval, and they have an inverted Z-shaped black bump. The eyes have white sclera and black iris. The limbs are long, the hands are round and have three rounded toes, and the feet also have three toes. Their skin is as hard as a rock. The chromatic specimens have purple skin. They exceed the Troh in height by 10 centimeters.

Troh is inspired by a judoka, while Sawk is inspired by the karateka Mas Oyama (creator of Kyokushin karate). The two also share inspiration from the legend ofaka-oni (“Oni red”) andao-oni (“Blue oni”), guardians of hell and torturers of the damned souls.

Both were originally supposed to debut in Diamond and Pearl and also have horns, but these have been removed during development to prevent them from resembling in appearance Tornadus e Thundurus. The English name for Troh comes from the verb to throw (throw), while the original Japanese derives from the union of the words 投 げ る nageru (throw), 撃 geki (blow) and maybe 鬼 ki (demon). The English name of Sawk derives from the verb to sock (to punch), while the original Japanese derives from 打 撃 dageki (blow) and maybe 鬼 ki.
