The Hammers Win, Shifting Liverpool in the standings

London

West Ham United managed to beat Crystal Palace 3-2 in Week 20 of the Premier League. This victory led The Hammers to fourth in the standings, shifting Liverpool.

Playing at Selhurst Park, Wednesday (27/1/2021) early morning WIB, Wilfried Zaha brought the hosts a quick lead through his long distance shot in the 3rd minute. But six minutes later, West Ham equalized.

It was Tomas Soucek who listed his name on the scoreboard. He completed Michail Antonio’s bait with a header. In the 25th minute, Soucek scored again, bringing West Ham back ahead.

In the second half, to be precise in the 65th minute, West Ham got further away thanks to a Craig Dawson header, who received a corner from Jarrod Bowen. Michy Batshuayi reduced the score to 3-2 in second half injury time, but it was all too late.

Score 3-2 to close this fight. This victory was also greeted with joy by West Ham, because this result made David Moyes’ squad move up to fourth with 35 points, shifting Liverpool who have only collected 34 points.

However, Liverpool still have one match, namely against Tottenham Hotspur. If that match produces a winner, then West Ham’s position must go down again. Regardless, Moyes is still grateful for this victory.

“I am happy with the team’s performance, managed to turn things around and play well afterwards. If we had been sharper in front of goal, maybe we could have scored 1-2 more goals,” said Moyes, quoted by Sky Sports.

“I feel that lately we are getting better. But that’s not much. There is still a lot we can give, there is still a lot we can do on the field.”

“I hope that this improvement will continue, and we can keep going. I can’t promise that, but we will try,” explained the former Manchester United and Everton manager.
