Tennis players from 68 countries in the Youth World Cup in Ecuador and the COSAT Bowl

Guayaquil (Ecuador), Jan 11 (EFE) .- Tennis players from 68 countries have confirmed their participation in the Hyundai Youth World Cup, in Salinas, Ecuador, and 240 will also compete in the Guayaquil Bowl corresponding to the COSAT tour next February, according to a statement from the Ecuadorian Tennis Federation (FET).

“The Hyundai Junior World Cup will be held between February 8 and 13 at the Salinas Golf & Tennis Club in the spa town of Salinas, where tennis players from 68 countries will participate,” the statement said.

It ensures that among the first countries to confirm their participation are: Germany, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Korea, Chile, Spain, United States, Finland, France, Israel, Italy, Japan, Lithuania, Mexico, Poland, Ukraine, Uruguay, Venezuela , among others.

The ITF Junior J1 Salinas, as the World Cup is also called, will be played in the midst of biosafety protocols that, among other measures, will prohibit the presence of fans due to the persistence of the coronavirus pandemic, according to sources from the organization.

For its part, the Guayaquil Bowl is part of the COSAT Tour (Circuit of the South American Tennis Confederation), which will take place between February 1 and 6.

The sector chosen for the event will be the annex of the Guayaquil Tennis Club based in Samborondón, in which there will be 240 tennis players aged between 14 and 16 years.

“This event is one of the stops of the South American Tour that will award points for the qualification to the European Tour 2022,” says the FET.

Prior to the World Cup, Ecuador will hold a selective between January 21 and 23, to choose its best exponents, because although most young tennis players keep training, they lack local and international competitions as a result of the pandemic by the coronavirus.
