Stohs wins the final stage of the Four Springboard competition and the overall standings / Day

Three-time Olympic champion Stohs became the winner of the competition for the third time. The 33-year-old Polish springboarder had previously won the traditional New Year’s Eve event in 2017 and 2018.

Like Stoh, Norwegian Bjern Virkola and GDR athlete Helmut Reknāgels have won the four springboards three times.

Som Jann Ahonen has five victories, the winner is East German Jens Weisflogs four times.

Stohs finished the race with 1110.6 points, ahead of German Karl Geiger (1062.5 points) and teammate David Kubacki (1057.8 points). The fourth was finished by the Norwegian Halvor Egner Granerūds (1057.4), the fifth – by Pjotr Žila (p. 1037.2).

The coronavirus pandemic nearly deprived two-time World Cup winner Stoh and other members of the Polish team of the Four-Springboard series.

Polish springboarder Clemens Muranka had received a positive Covid-19 test and the entire team was initially disqualified until re-testing in Oberstdorf showed that they were healthy, including Muranka, and the initial positive result was found to be an error.

Stohs won 300.7 points on Wednesday. Norwegian Marius Lindvik (280.4 points) and Geiger (277.3 points) climbed the podium with him.

It has already been reported that the first stage of the race on the German track in Oberstdorf was won by the home of Karl Geiger, the second stage of the race in Garmisch-Partenkirchen on January 1 was celebrated by Polish springboarder David Kubackis, correcting the springboard record on Friday

Granerud is first in the overall World Cup standings, with Norway scoring 768 points. Markus Eizenbihler from Germany has 584 points and Stohs 508 points.

This season, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the competition takes place at empty stands, although the performance of athletes is usually watched by about 25,000 fans.

The four-spring tour takes place for the 69th time in history. Last season, Paul Kubackis won the tour and won the Golden Eagle trophy.
