Serie A1 2021 with 12 teams, final in September. Summer break for European and Olympics – OA Sport

Within the press release with which the FIBS announced the total upheaval of the formula of the A1 Series of baseball there is also the part relating to softball and this year’s top league. The latter is decidedly less complex: let’s go and see it.

There will be 12 teams at the start, divided into two groups of 6: they will start on 24 April and will end on 20 June, with round-trip matches. The commitments of the Italian national team, namely Europeans and Olympics, will stop everything until August 28, when there will be the semi-finals crossed at the best of 5 races. The Italian Softball Series will be held on the same distance, from 11 to 19 September.

As for the rest, third and fourth of the two groups will end the season, while fifth and sixth will have to play the playouts between them, with the loser of the latter going down to Serie A2, which, in turn, will promote a team.

In the 2020 season the title was won by Bollate, who finished a 15-year run-up by beating Saronno in four games. The year was characterized by the participation of nine teams, compared to the ten planned (withdrawal of Caserta) and also saw Forlì for a long time protagonist.
