Scott Milanovich wants to try his luck again in the NFL

Without even having coached a single game, Scott Milanovich gave up his position as head coach of the Edmonton football team in the Canadian Football League (CFL) to try his luck in the NFL.

That’s what the team announced on Monday. Milanovich was hired by the Alberta club in December 2019, but has never been able to get to work as the last Ambrosie Circuit campaign was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Scott informed me this morning that he is stepping down as head coach,” general manager and vice president of football operations Brock Sunderland said in a statement. It’s disappointing that he was never able to lead a game for our organization due to the pandemic. We wish Scott and his family the best in their future endeavors. ”

Milanovic would not be a first step in the NFL. He notably coached quarterbacks with the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2017 to 2019. He previously held the same role with the Montreal Alouettes in 2007 before becoming offensive coordinator for the following four seasons.

He also led the Toronto Argonauts from 2012 to 2016. He has won three career Gray Cups.
