In the semifinals of the last tournament, Cruz Azul lost a four-goal advantage in the second leg of the semifinals against Pumas and, 35 days later, the ‘Sky Machine’ continues without reacting. In his presentation at Guard1anes 2021, he was easily beaten by Santos and the local at TSM Corona took advantage of a flash from Diego Valdés, to win 1-0.
In a month and 10 days everything happened, two Cruz Azul players left, Robert Dante Siboldi resigned, Juan Reynoso was introduced as the new coach and even a new executive president arrived at the institution.
In the field, it seems that nothing happened. Those led by the Peruvian were without reaction force, handcuffed by a Santos who suffered with Covid 19 during the week. They were beaten with very little.
Reynoso has the same weapons as Siboldi. He moved the starting eleven with respect to the last one presented by the Uruguayan. He took out the young Sebastián Jurado and put the experienced José de Jesús Corona, he sat the ‘Shaggy’ and put Yoshimar Yotún in. The movements served to hold 45 minutes, then the team fell again.
In 90 minutes, three shots from the ‘Machine’ in the direction of the goal, a clash between the same blue forwards inside the area and a lot of passes from nowhere, in the midfielder’s attempt to connect with the forwards. Santos, on the other hand, scored 1-0 in the 61st minute and put order on the court.
Yotún came out two minutes before Santos’ goal and that ended the battle for the ball in the midfield. Cruz Azul lost the ball and those from Torreón won in confidence. Chaos came, heavenly disorder, balls and even Pablo Aguilar spent more time in the white-and-green area than in José de Jesús Corona’s, effort without reward.
Reynoso, after four training sessions, makes his debut as a coach for Cruz Azul, a team that is still dying, which has not yet healed the wounds from the last tournament.
