French football is sinking day after day into the Covid-19 crisis. And no one escapes it. Not even the powerful PSG. The capital club, whose losses at the end of the season could reach 200 million euros – to which must be added the 115 million euros from last season – is also strongly affected by the health crisis, which imposes the closed door and the absence of financial income related to the organization of matches, and the crisis of television rights.
A situation which pushed the leaders to impose drastic measures for a large part of its employees. According to information from France Bleu Paris, the club has, since January 4, put 400 employees on short-time work, more than half of its employees (estimated at 700). Depending on their duties and the services on which they depend, these employees must stop work between one to five days a week. Measures affecting legal services, marketing, ticketing, etc.
Still according to France Bleu Paris, only the sports sector would ultimately not be affected by this measure, the objective of which is to limit financial losses. The leaders, however, polled the players to find out if they accepted a cut in their wages.
The club had already put some of its employees on partial unemployment in March 2020, during the first confinement, and in November. But the number of targeted employees was then less.
