Private party attended: Juicy penalty for NBA star Irving

New York (AP) – NBA star Kyrie Irving has to pay a fine of 50,000 US dollars for violating the Corona guidelines of the North American professional basketball league.

The 28-year-old builder of the Brooklyn Nets had violated health and safety protocols, the NBA said on Friday.

Irving attended a private indoor party last weekend. The league regulations prohibit players from attending meetings of 15 or more people and from entering a bar or club.

Irving will also lose his salary for every game he missed during his five-day quarantine. Since he has already had to sit out two games, he will lose more than $ 900,000 of his annual salary of $ 33.5 million, according to calculations by the AP news agency.

Overall, Irving missed the last five games of the Nets for personal reasons. If he tests negative for the corona virus, he can join his team again this Saturday.
