Pete Carroll wants more ground action for Seahawks in 2021

Russell Wilson failed against the Los Angeles Rams defense at Wild Card Weekend, even with no visitors Aaron Donald, his best player, for the second half of the match in Seattle.

The quarterback completed 11 of 27 passes for 174 yards, two touchdowns and an interception that Darius Williams he anticipated on a quick pass and safely returned 42 yards to the end zone in the second period.

On the other hand, Pete Carroll he sent 21 rushing plays in which his running backs added 86 yards. Wilson ran away four other times to generate another 50 yards.

Seeded as the second best team in the National Conference, Seattle disappointed in its result against the Rams who lost to John Wolford at the start of the game with a neck injury, and who was replaced by Jared Goff, who two weeks ago underwent surgery on his thumb.

The Seahawks didn’t live up to the forecasts.

By the logic of Pete Carroll, the team’s head coach, lightening the load on Wilson during the season will pay off the team in the postseason. This, he plans to do it as the rhythm of the game is established: by running the ball.

“We have to run the ball better. I don’t even want to run it better, run more ”said Monday, according to Gregg Bell, of The News Tribune.

By the first cut of half a calendar, Seattle positioned 6-2, and Wilson like one of the candidates to the front by the race by the MVP. In that span he completed 71.4% of his shipments for 2,541 yards, 28 touchdowns and eight interceptions. In the last eight games, his numbers dropped notably to 66.2% from completions for 1,671 yards, 12 touchdowns and five interceptions.

Seattle finished 12th in the league in rushing yards (123.1), but among the team’s top three running backs, Chris Carson (681), Carlos Hyde (356) and DeeJay Dallas (108) they barely reached 1,145 yards. Wilson contributed another 513.

Schottenheimer

Last season, Seattle had 28.7 points per game. The 459 points they scored with Brian Schottenheimer in 2020 they have broken the team record set in 2005, when they scored 452 (28.3) under the direction of Mike Holmgren and the coordination of Gil Haskell.

Schottenheimer has sounded to go to other teams as head coach after the offensive results. Carroll, meanwhile plans to extend his stay in the northwest of the country, acknowledged for The News Tribune.
