Omar Elabdellaoui after a fireworks accident with visual problems

Dhe Norwegian football professional Omar Elabdellaoui from Galatasaray Istanbul still suffers from vision problems after the fireworks accident on New Year’s Eve, but these are gradually improving. His doctors announced this on Saturday.

The 29-year-old defender suffered burns to his face when a firecracker exploded in his hand during a New Year’s Eve party in Istanbul. “Our efforts are [den Schaden] to minimize ”, said the medical professional Vedat Kaya on Saturday in Istanbul’s Liv Hospital. The player’s right eye is still in bad shape, Kaya admitted. The treatments would of course continue.

The former Eintracht Braunschweig player now has to undergo plastic surgery after the second degree burns, confirmed Galatasaray’s team doctor Yener Ince. He said it was too early to say if and when Elabdellaoui would play again.

It is the second time in a few months that the Norwegian international has made headlines. In mid-November, he tested positive for the corona virus, which led to the cancellation of the international match in Romania due to the subsequent quarantine of the Norwegian national team. The Uefa had ultimately rated the canceled game 3-0 for Romania.
