Nadal, Bautista, Carreño and Granollers will represent Spain in the ATP Cup

Tennis players Rafael Nadal, Roberto Bautista, Pablo Carreño and Marcel Granollers will be in charge of representing the Spanish team in the second edition of the Cup ATP that will take place in Melbourne (Australia) as a prelude to the first Grand Slam of the season.

Spain will start as the current finalist after stumbling in last year’s final after losing the final point, related to the doubles match, against Serbia of Novak Djokovic.

As a result of the changes introduced in the format, the new edition of the ATP Cup will start on the first day of February and will feature the participation of twelve teams: Serbia, Spain, Austria, Russia, Greece, Germany, Argentina, Italy, Japan, France, Canada and Australia.

He Group stage draw will be held on January 20 as explained in a statement by the organization of the event.

The participating teams correspond to the nationalities of the first eleven classified in the ATP ranking, with the exception of Roger Federer who will not be able to play the tournament again with Switzerland as a result of his knee injury, while Australia will access as host.

The twelve contenders for the title will be divided into four groups of three teams each to compete in the first phase and the first classified of each of the groups will compete in the semifinals.

The grand final will take place on Friday, February 5, so the competition will last for a total of five days and will share the stage with the two ATP 250 tournaments that will also precede the Australian Open.
