In the 58th minute, Aston Villa reached a draw. Jack Grīlisis scored from the penalty spot, and Bertrāns Traore put Davidu de Hea close at a distance.
A few minutes later, Paul Pogba was knocked down in the Villa penalty area, and Brunu Fernandes scored the winning goal from 11 meters.
The Red Devils caught the top of Liverpool in the tournament table, retaining first place thanks to a better goal ratio.
