Manchester United pays 21 million for teenage Diallo from Atalanta | NOW

Manchester United concluded the long-awaited arrival of Amad Diallo on Thursday. Atalanta will receive 21 million euros for the 18-year-old winger, who will sign until the summer of 2025.

“We have been following Amad for several years now and I went to see him myself,” says manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer about his new addition. “I think he is one of the most promising talents in the football world.”

The Norwegian trainer thinks that Diallo can develop further at the current number two of the Premier League. “Manchester United has a long tradition of youthful players. Amad is in the right place to reach his full potential.”

The Ivory Coast-born left leg has played with Atalanta since 2015. At the beginning of October, on the last day of the summer transfer market, United already concluded an agreement with the Italian club. But because the work permit and medical examination still had to be completed and a personal agreement had to be concluded with the player, the transfer could only now be completed.

‘Diallo can become an important player at United’

Diallo came to four league matches and one Champions League appearance for Atalanta, in which the talent made one goal. Solskjaer gives him time to adjust to the level in England.

“He will need that time, but his speed, overview and dribbling are of a high level. He has the raw quality to become an important player for our club in the coming years.”

United will play its next match on Saturday. Donny van de Beek’s team will compete at home against Watford in the FA Cup.
