Italian Cup: big clash between Ibrahimovic and Lukaku during the Milan derby

The images of their tête-à-tête are going around Europe. The two behemoths Zlatan Ibrahimovic (1.95 m, 95 kg), the striker of AC Milan, and Romelu Lukaku (1.90 m, 94 kg), that of Inter Milan, shouted at each other this Tuesday evening January 26 during the quarter-final of the Italian Cup between the two Milanese teams. If Inter qualified for the semi-finals by winning (2-1), it was the duel between the two scorers that caught the attention.

After opening the scoring, Ibra will find himself in the middle of a scuffle with Belgian striker Romeo Lukaku, his former partner at Manchester United for one season (2017-2018). After an action, the Belgian and the Swedish insult each other. “Go call your mother and go do your voodoo rites, moron”, notably launched the former Swedish striker from PSG to the Belgian.

An attack apparently in reference to an episode that occurred in 2017 when Lukaku turned down an offer to extend Everton because his mother saw, during a voodoo rite, that her son was advised to sign at Chelsea. The Belgian striker then replied. “Do you want to talk about my mother? Why ? Fuck you and your mom. Let’s talk about her, it’s a p… ”

Invectives even in the corridors of San Siro

The two players then challenged each other, head to head, before each receiving a warning. The insults continued after the referee’s whistle on the way to the locker room. Ibra would have launched again to the Belgian: “I am waiting for you afterwards”. Furious, Lukaku then sought to join Ibra in the corridors of the San Siro Stadium before being prevented from doing so.

The yellow card received following his altercation with Lukaku cost Zlatan dearly. Again warned in the second half for a foul while trying to interrupt an interfering counter (58th), the Swedish goleador was sent off. Outnumbered, the Rossoneri then suffered the law of Inter, who first equalized on a penalty converted by Lukaku (1-1, 71st) before scoring the winning goal on a free kick from Eriksen at the end of the game (2-1, 90th).

The expulsion of the Swedish giant, which will celebrate its 40th anniversary in October, could be very expensive for AC Milan. The seven-time European champion, leader of Calcio with two lengths ahead of… Inter, could lose the third top scorer in the championship (12 goals) for a long time in the event of heavy penalties.
