THE CHRONICLE OF THE FIRST HEAT OF FLACHAU SLALOM

19.23 Thanks for joining us, appointment at 20.45 for the second run.

19.22 Out of the other Italians: 37th Peterlini, 44th Rossetti, 47th Viviani, 49th Della Mea.

19.21 Two Italians qualified: an excellent sixth Irene Curtoni at 1 ″ 11, 29 but at 2 ″ 84 Anita Gulli, who went down with the bib number 59! It is the first time that the Turin-born qualifies for the second heat.

19.20 The first heat is over. Mikaela Shiffrin leads with 0.08 on Holdener, 0.14 on Vlhova, 0.33 on Liensberger, 1.09 on Gisin.

19.13 COMPANY OF ANITA GULLI! He is 29th with bib number 59, detached 2 ″ 84. It could qualify.

19.10 Nothing to do for Serena Viviani, 45th at 4 ″ 10.

19.09 The Slovenian Andreja Skolar is 17th with the bib number 52! This is a 23 year old girl.

19.06 Not a good test for the young blue. We are still waiting for Viviani and Gulli. Recall that the 35 year old Irene Curtoni is an excellent sixth.

19.03 The Croatian Popovic puts Martina Peterlini out of 30.

19.01 Martina Peterlini is 30th, at this point Italy risks bringing only Irene Curtoni to the second heat.

18.58 Rossetti and Della Mea are already out of 30. Peterlini resists in 28th place.

18.54 Hanging by a thread Peterlini and Rossetti, respectively 26th and 29th at 3 ″ 16 and 3 ″ 75.

18.53 Nothing to do for Lara Della Mea, 30th at 4 ″ 24. It will not qualify.

18.51 The next blue to go down will have the following bibs: 33 Della Mea, 54 Viviani, 59 Gulli.

18.48 The first 30 athletes got off. Mikaela Shiffrin commands with 8 cents on Holdener and 14 on Vlhova: balance reigns! Liensberger is also not far behind, fourth at 0.33. Fifth at 1 ″ 09 Michelle Gisin, who compromised everything with a mistake before the plan. Excellent sixth Irene Curtoni at 1 ″ 11. The Valtellina will have to try to keep her position in the second heat.

18.46 Great performance for the American Moltzan. With the bib n.29 he fits in 12th position at 1 ″ 88.

18.45 The Japanese Ando is excellent, she is 16th at 2 ″ 33. It really outdid itself.

18.42 Martina Peterlini, weakened by back pain this season, is 23rd at 3 ″ 16. goes in front of Marta Rossetti.

18.41 The Swiss Meillard is 19th at 2 ″ 76.

18.41 The Swedish Hector is defended, 17th in 2 ″ 49. Marta Rossetti is 22nd at 3 ″ 75, a high-risk qualification.

18.40 The first positions will no longer change. In the lead Mikaela Shiffrin with 0.08 on Holdener, 0.14 on Vlhova, 0.33 on Liensberger, 1 ″ 09 on Gisin and 1 ″ 11 on Irene Curtoni.

18.39 The Slovenian Bucik is 17th at 2 ″ 59.

18.35 Huge gap for Marta Rossetti: 20ma at 3 ″ 75. It’s penultimate, it won’t be easy to qualify.

18.34 The Norwegian Riis-Johannessen is wrecked, last at 4 seconds. Now Marta Rossetti!

18.32 The French veteran Noens is 17th at 2 ″ 93.

18.31 The Austrian Gritsch disappoints, who opens his arms at the finish: he is 18th at 3 ″ 04.

18.29 The Norwegian Stjernesund is 14th at 2 ″ 07. The next Italian will be Marta Rossetti with the n.22. Attention now to the Austrian Gritsch.

18.28 The feeling is that Irene Curtoni will close the first heat in sixth position.

18.27 Gallhuber brakes too much, then goes into rotation and risks going out. A race to forget, closed in 16th place at 2 ″ 94. For now it is last.

18.26 The Czech Dubovska is 13th at 2 seconds straight. Now the Austrian Gallhuber.

18.24 It is a very exciting race. After the first 15, Shiffrin is in the lead with 0.08 on Holdener (who made the most of bib number 1) and 0.14 on Vlhova. Fourth Liensberger at 0.33: these four skiers will be fighting for the victory. Fifth Michelle Gisin at 1 ″ 09: the Swiss made a serious mistake right at the entrance to the final plan. Sixth was a very good Irene Curtoni, 1 ″ 11 from the summit.

18.23 The Austrian Katharina Huber is 11th at 1 ″ 67.

18.21 The Canadian St-Germain is surprised by a bump and is tenth at 1 ″ 65. Irene Curtoni today ran the best heat of the year. It is only 2 cents from Switzerland’s Gisin, who is fifth. Not bad for a 35 year old athlete.

18.20 VERY GOOD! Irene Curtoni is sixth at 1 ″ 11! A very precise heat, she passed very close to the posts and always let it go. Really great.

18.18 The track is being marked, but the athletes who are going down now are not at the level of Vlhova and Shiffrin. The Norwegian Lysdahl is sixth at 1 ″ 42, defended. It’s up to Irene Curtoni: staying under the second and a half behind would be a great result.

18.16 The Canadian Mielzynski is immediately out, the first athlete not to finish the race.

18.16 We remind you that Federica Brignone and Marta Bassino are not present because they preferred to stay in Italy to train in view of the giants of Kranjska Gora and the Cortina World Championships.

18.15 After the first 7, the level has lowered, as usual. The Norwegian Holtmann is ninth at 2 ″ 18.

18.14 The Swedish Wikstroem is last at 2 ″ 44. However, he should be able to qualify.

18.12 The German Duerr is eighth at 1 ″ 88. The feeling is that, from now on, the first four positions are unscratchable.

18.10 Michelle Gisin misses a bump before the floor and closes at 1 ″ 09. She is fifth, she compromised the race, because at the last intermediate she was very close, just 0.11 from Shiffrin. The Swiss has literally bounced off a bump, losing speed.

18.09 Liensberger is fourth at 0.33. It has lost almost everything in the upper part. It’s the turn of the Swiss Michelle Gisin, who is going really fast in the slalom.

18.08 Bad start, immediately 31 cents late for Liensberger.

18.07 MIKAELA SHIFFRIN IN COMMAND! 8 cents ahead of Holdener, Vlhova is third at 0.14. Very short ranking. Attention now to the Austrian Katharina Liensberger.

18.06 What lightness. Immediately 2 tenths of advantage in the first partial.

18.06 Troops time is also high, fourth at 1 ″ 47. Holdener, never on the podium this year, begins to dream. Now a challenging test bench: there is the American Mikaela Shiffrin.

18.04 Mair remains too clinging to the edges and closes at 1 ″ 38 from Holdener. Another Austrian on the track: Katharina Truppe.

18.02 SURPRISE! Petra Vlhova from Slovakia is 6 cents behind Wendy Holdener! He made no major mistakes or smudges. It’s up to the Austrian Chiara Mair.

18.02 Immediately 12 cents ahead for the Slovakian at the first detection, but she is behind by 0.07 per second!

18.01 54 ″ 12 the Swiss time trial. Clean descent, without obvious smudges. But maybe he didn’t dare 100%. Now immediately the answer: there is Petra Vlhova!

18.00 Start of the race with the Swiss Wendy Holdener.

17.59 Rather heavy snowfall in Flachau. This is it, Wendy Holdener is about to leave.

17.57 The first heat was traced by Georg Harzl, coach of Germany.

17.55 The starting bibs of the Italians: 13 Irene Curtoni, 22 Marta Rossetti, 26 Martina Peterlini, 33 Lara Della Mea, 54 Serena Viviani, 59 Anita Gulli.

17.52 The first of the Italians to leave will be Irene Curtoni with bib 13.

17.50 Very few minutes to go: bib number 1 for the Swiss Holdener, then immediately Vhlova.

17.46 Absent the stars Brignone and Bassino, Italy in any case will try to assert itself, perhaps hunting for a place in the top-10: the most anticipated will be Irene Curtoni and Marta Rossetti.

17.43 Many opponents for the Slovakian: obviously starting with Mikaela Shiffrin, passing through Katharina Liensberger, without forgetting the Swiss Michelle Gisin.

17.40 Today will certainly be an important opportunity for Petra Vlhova to consolidate her red bib as leader of the general classification.

17.38 The race between the narrow poles will start at 18.00 with the first heat, while the second will start at 20.45.

17.33 Today the special slalom is scheduled in Flachau (Austria).

17.30 Good evening and welcome to the women’s Alpine Skiing World Cup.

On the track named after the local hero, Hermann Maier, we will see a new slalom challenge with Petra Vlhova who wants to make a big voice again, after the success achieved in Zagreb. From Mikaela Shiffrin a Katharina Liensberger, without forgetting Switzerland Michelle Gisin. For the Italian colors we will see at the start Irene Curtoni (with a ninth place in 2016 as the best placement in Flachay), Marta Rossetti (who won his first career points on this track last year), Martina Peterlini and Lara Della Mea, there will be the Ligurian Serena Viviani (to the second token after Levi) e Anita Gulli, she also fifth in the transalpine race last Sunday.
