Ignacio Tejeda, a jewel of Chilean tennis, passed away

The youthful Chilean tennis player Ignacio Tejeda, aged 17, died after contracting cancer just 11 months ago, in a news that caused a stir in the environment and motivated the condolences of Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Dominic Thiem, among other of the main rackets of the circuit.

The disease was diagnosed in March 2020 and Tejeda began treatment that required her family to move to the United States for a stem cell transplant. For this therapy, the Chilean sport mobilized and raised about 780 thousand dollars to pay for the treatment.

The contribution of extenistas Marcelo Ríos, Nicolás Massu and Fernando González and even the current number one in Chile Cristian Garín plus many other trans-Andean soccer players was essential with therapy until the last minute.
