Historical Arsenal manager for 22 years, Arsène Wenger had left the London club in the summer of 2018. Replaced first by Unai Emery, the Spanish technician had left his place in December 2019 to his compatriot Mikel Arteta, for a first in as number 1. But the Gunners’ results do not follow, despite everything currently returning to a very modest 13th place in the Premier League after two wins in a row.
“If they need me, I’ll help them”
Critics around Mikel Arteta fuse and the Spanish coach appears very threatened, after the poor start to the season for Arsenal in its history in the Premier League. In an interview for Men In Blazers sur NBC, Arsène Wenger has left the door open to a possible return. “I do not want anything, however recalled the former technician when asked about a possible return to support Arteta. If I am needed, I will help them. But I do not expect that, no.”
Appointed director of world football development at FIFA in November 2019, Arsène Wenger has not found a sideline since leaving Arsenal. “Time is a good doctor,” said the Frenchman, returning with a bit of hindsight on the end of his long London adventure.
A few weeks ago, the Alsatian already indicated “refuse to say never again” for a coaching position, in the event of finding one day on a bench. Not resentful, Arsène Wenger therefore seems still willing to dive back for Arsenal.
