I was starting to lose my position in Hradec, says Zámorský. She feels great in Comet Hokej.cz

HK spent three years in eastern Bohemia in the colors of Mountfield, but he sensed that he needed a change. On Sunday, defender Petr Zámorský had a successful premiere in Kometa, during which he was the second busiest player of the blue and whites. “I got a lot of time on the ice, so I tried to get it out as well as possible and not let anything out,” he appreciated Brno’s chances after winning 3-0 over Karlovy Vary.

The first match for Comet and on the ice for almost 22 minutes. The coaches wanted to test you properly, didn’t they?
I don’t know, but I’m very happy for their trust. I tried to pay them back with each turn, every time they got it. Overall, it was a great match against Karlovy Vary and I am glad that I helped to three points.

They also used you in an elite power play formation with Peter Mueller et al.
I felt good. These are all incredible players I joined there. And I think it will only get better and better. After all, I’m new here and we have to say something else about it, so then I’ll orient myself even better and choose a place for the power play. I am convinced that it will be good.

Your task is to send one cannonball after another to the goal?
Definitely yes. Especially I also have to send it there from the blue, so that it breaks a bit and there are not just recordings in the blank. I believe it will fit.

In the end, you got the first point for Comet. That will please, won’t it?
To tell you the truth, I didn’t focus on that in this match. I wanted to be valid on the team. I was given a lot of time on the ice, so I tried to get it done as best I could and not let anything out. I think I did relatively well, so this is more of a pleasure. Of course, some points are also expected from me and the assistance is nice, but I focused mainly on winning for three points. It worked out and I will go to the next match in exactly the same way.

In the end, did the coaches next to you spin a few partners in defense, with whom did you sit the most?
I was primarily supposed to perform with Filda Král, with whom I trained. We complied together, but except for Mlči (Jan Mlčák), everyone here is experienced, so it is not a problem to satisfy with anyone else. Silence gives it such a youthful predation. Everyone is great, I had no problem with anyone.

Philip and I are both offensive beci. How are your roles divided?
I don’t remember if there was a backlash in the match. Of course, it’s always better to play and we said something about it. When one goes forward, the other stays behind, I wouldn’t see a problem with that. We have to comply, say something about it and it will be good.

In one situation, however, you both both appeared in a counterattack in front of the goal.
Yes, that was in the second period, when we got a little carried away. But then I quickly turned it back to its place.

Who has the final say in such a case? You as older?
It is not like that. One goes forward, the other sees it, so it stays behind. Filda is a great defender, talented, he plays great. I would not see any problem with that.

“Everyone knows where Comet should play, and I want to help her meet those goals.”

Let’s go back to the previous days. Can you tell us how your move to Brno was born?
First of all, it’s great that it turned out like this. It’s a new charge for me again and I’m glad I got the chance from Mr. Zábranský. I really appreciate it. But it all somehow came out of the situation. I already felt the need to move on after four years. Even the coach in Hradec bet a bit on other players than me. I was building a position there, and I was gradually starting to lose ground. So it was mostly a combination of more circumstances, but I’m glad I’m here and I’m not looking at the past. I try to be positive and just look ahead.

How do you feel in Comet’s cabin?
Absolutely great. I knew about eighty percent of the boys personally, so I don’t even feel like I’m going to a new environment. I met the boys either at national team matches or somewhere else. They received me superbly, for which they deserve a big thank you. I feel great here, there’s a great bunch.

Have you set a goal that you would like to achieve with Comet?
I came to the top team of the Czech extra league. I don’t want to talk about any goals here right now. I think everyone knows where Comet should play, and I want to help her meet those goals.

Do you expect to sign up for a longer period in Brno?
I don’t know that at all. I have a contract until the end of the season. I take it that I also have the motivation to talk about another contract. Of course, that would be great, but I got a chance from Mr. Zábranský and now it’s up to me to evaluate it. I will work and try to get another offer and I can stay here.

Is hosting even better for you because it is closer to home in Zlín?
It’s a bonus, but I didn’t look at it in the first place. I took into account the hockey side of the offer from Kometa and this is more of a plus point. Of course I would like to live here, but I don’t know. I’m working on it for now, but I’ll see how it works or it doesn’t work out. Finding something for four months is hard.

You are playing in Zlín on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Will it be a prestigious duel for you, or is it already cold?
Rather, as a second option, it leaves me cold. After all, it’s been six or seven years since I last played there, and I take it like any normal match. Especially now that it’s played without fans, it’s completely calm. No one there is cursing at me. It will be important for us to follow up on the great performance from the match against Karlovy Vary and take home six points.
