“I knew that sooner or later I had to get out of my comfort zone”

That’s what it’s like to arrive and grind: starter from the first day with Zaragoza.
Yes, I am very happy with how it all happened. The truth is that I didn’t expect anything from the world for the coach to start me in the first game. I was a little nervous when I found out and anticipated that it would cost me a bit in the first few minutes but I slowly got rid of that nervousness.

Therefore, adaptation has been rapid.
Don’t think about it. The jump from Second B to the Smartbank League is a very strong change. In fact, this is always said. What I can say is that the adaptation, with the time required, has been good and more so when they give you the confidence and the minutes you want. Now I know that in Second Division matches the intensity is much higher and you have to always be careful.

How has the dressing room and the city welcomed you?
Very well, the truth. Everyone knows the passion this club has, which is wonderful. From the first moment they have been perfect with me. I have received many messages of encouragement. As for classmates, pretty much the same. We have a group with a mix of young people and veterans who help each other. We are a pineapple.

“Being a pineapple” is not reflected in the classification.
It is being a very difficult year because of the pandemic we are suffering from. We had to start a little later than the rest of the league teams, like Girona, for making the promotion play-off last season. I don’t think that going up was a very hard blow for the institution, and this year many new players have arrived who still have to adapt completely.

However, he ended the year with a victory and his first goal in the victory against Lugo.
I don’t know if I could ask for more. Going on Christmas vacation with a win allowed us to catch some air and be able to disconnect in the best way possible. And what about my first target? I am very happy in the personal aspect and to have helped the team. At home when I returned they radiated joy. This goal is definitely dedicated to my family.

Has it been difficult for you to separate from your family after a career linked to Girona?
The truth is no. I think the step out of my comfort zone had to come sooner or later. My dream has always been to be able to play professional football and dedicate myself fully to it; and going to Zaragoza was the best option to meet him.

Did you hesitate when you received the Zaragoza proposal?
It didn’t take me long to give an affirmative answer. I guess if another offer from another team had come I would have accepted the same to see my dream of being a professional come true. Being honest at first when a club of this level such as Zaragoza got in touch with me I was amazed. I didn’t believe it.

Two years in Figueres and the same in Olot. Where is your roof?
I do not know. What I want is to give my best this season. I wish I could say that next year I will be in the First Division. What I can mention with complete certainty is that I will continue to work like no other and strive in the day to day. This is the key to success.

To go to Zaragoza, he had to leave Olot. Are you following him?
Of course. I still have contact with teammates, coaches … It was a family for me. This year has cost them a bit to boot but I’m sure from now on they will only have to look up. They have found themselves in a very complicated situation because of the coronavirus. They have given many positives. This has meant that they have to stop dry and re-train and so on several times.

In Olot he had Raúl Garrido and in Figueres Chicho Pèlach. Reference coaches.
Garrido is a reference in the Second B. When he signed me I already knew. I am very grateful to him because from the first moment he gave me the confidence to play. He was fully counting on me and I proved my level. I had Chicho since my youth in Figueres. He helped me a lot and I wish him the best, now that he is in England. I’m glad you both do so well.

What do you ask of the new year?
In the field of sports, Zaragoza can leave the relegation zone and reverse the situation in which we find ourselves. I have a lot of confidence in this team and I know we will. I would also like to see a field like La Romareda full of people where the fans can give us the necessary warmth in the matches we play as a local. But most of all what I want is health for everyone because this pandemic has affected many people.
