Günter Bresnik, new coach of Gaël Monfils

A photo posted from Dubai, a dozen days ago, had put the chip in the ear but it is now official: Günter Bresnik is the new coach of Gaël Monfils.

Separated from the American Liam Smith, with whom he started a collaboration in December 2018, the French (34) thus calls on an extremely experienced trainer, who started on the circuit in the mid-80s.

Bresnik will not go to Melbourne

Aged 59, the Austrian has worked with Boris Becker, Henri Leconte and Dominic Thiem, from whom he separated in 2019. Bresnik will not make the trip to Melbourne, for the Australian Open (8 -the 21st of February).

On the spot, it is his compatriot Richard Ruckelshausen, also named captain of the France team for the next ATP Cup (February 1-5), who will coach the 11th in the world.
