Four German stations on the WTA calendar until summer

Four women’s tournaments in Germany are part of the calendar from the WTA tour to the Grand Slam in the tennis mecca of Wimbledon.

When it presented its schedule for the first half of the year, the WTA confirmed the competitions in Stuttgart (from April 19), in Cologne (May 17), Berlin (June 14) and Bad Homburg (June 21).

Cologne serves the top players around the former world number one Angelique Kerber (Kiel) as a dress rehearsal for the French Open (from May 23). Bad Homburg is meanwhile the last opportunity for a form check for Wimbledon (from June 28th).

The tennis year on the WTA tour begins on Wednesday at the tournament in Abu Dhabi. The tournaments after Wimbledon in the second half of the year should only be terminated at a later date due to the corona pandemic.

When planning the first six months of the year that has just begun, the WTA endeavors, according to its own statements, “from mid-March to a largely traditional tournament calendar.”
