Fortuna Sittard lures old acquaintances to Eredivisie: ‘Good to be back’

Fortuna Sittard has strengthened itself with old acquaintance Leroy George. The attacker (33) signs with the Limburg premier divisionist until the end of the season.

George had been on trial with Fortuna for several weeks, which gave him the shirt with number 33. The routine played in the Netherlands for FC Utrecht and NEC and has played football in Azerbaijan, Turkey, Australia, the United Arab Emirates and Jordan in recent years.

“It’s good to be back,” George says on the website of his new club. “I am happy with the opportunity to show myself again at Eredivisie level. I am very grateful to Fortuna Sittard for that. I cannot wait to contribute to the ambitions of the club.”

Fortuna has had a good idea of ​​George in recent weeks, says technical manager Sjoerd Ars. “We bring in an experienced player with him, who can play at the forefront in various positions. And he is top fit, so he can be there right away. That is also a nice side effect in this busy period.”

George is the third winter fortification in Sittard after Thibaud Verlinden (Stoke City) and Mickaël Tirpan (Kasimpasa).
