Football: the suspension of two matches of Lionel Messi confirmed on appeal

FC Barcelona’s appeal concerning the suspension for two matches of Lionel Messi after his exclusion in the final of the Supercopa de Espana was rejected this Friday, January 22. The Argentinian will therefore be absent for the meeting against Elche on Sunday in La Liga, after having already missed the Catalans’ match in the King’s Cup on Thursday against the 3rd division club Cornella (2-0 victory). Lionel Messi was excluded last Sunday just before the end of the extension of the Spanish Supercopa final lost by Barça to Athletic Bilbao (3-2). He received the first red card of his career with FC Barcelona (after 753 matches) for slapping the Basque winger Asier Villalibre. .
