Five athletes from Santa Cruz were summoned for the training project

The five will be the representatives of Santa Cruz that will start the National Training Project 2028 for the feminine of the Argentine Basketball Confederation. Its objective is to develop them between the ages of 13 and 17.

In the complete list of 102 selected athletes, the height (1m80) was prioritized. That is part of the requirement to belong to this plan, in addition to being basketball players between 13 and 17 years old.

The 102 players chosen will be under the training of five coaches: Paula Budini, Rocío Pérez, Eduardo Aguilar (from Río Gallegos), Ignacio Navazo and Agustín Lukac.

Who spoke was Gregorio Martínez, head coach, from the senior women’s basketball team, and explained her feelings about this plan: “We need these players to train at least 12 hours a week,” she said.

At the same time, he commented on the main objective of the plan: “For girls to become athletes at age 14, not at 20, that they know what habits are needed for that goal,” said the head coach.

This project is one more step forward for the growth of the basketball female in the country. This is why “I am very excited, because we feel that these things can change history,” Martinez concluded.
