In office since January 2019, the 42-year-old has maintained a poor 9-23 record at the helm of the Big Apple team. In 2020, the Jets ended their regular season with a 2-14 record, giving them the second-worst performance on the Goodell Tour.

“Tonight [dimanche], I told Adam Gase that he was no longer the head coach of the Jets, wrote club owner Christopher Johnson in a statement. During his time here, I had the pleasure of getting to know Adam and his amazing family. I wish them the best for the future. While my intentions are to have stability in this organization – especially in our leadership positions – it was clear that the best decision for the Jets was to make a change. ”

“We knew there would be a lot of work to do when we hired Adam in 2019. Our good end to the season last year was encouraging, but unfortunately we were unable to build on our momentum and achieve our goals this season, ”he added.

Prior to joining the New York club, Gase led the Miami Dolphins for three seasons (2016 to 2018), but only experienced one winning campaign. As head coach, he has a 32-48 record.
