Fine in the NBA: penalty for three players for brawl in Mavs-Hornets game

The NBA fined three players totaling $ 85,000 on Friday for their participation in a brawl during Wednesday’s game between Charlotte Hornets and Dallas Mavericks.

James Johnson of the Mavericks was fined $ 40,000, while for the Hornets, Cody Martin must pay $ 25,000 and Caleb Martin 20,000.

The incident came with about 2:40 minutes remaining in Charlotte’s 118-99 win over local Dallas on Wednesday.

The NBA said Johnson deliberately pushed Cody Martin out of bounds “by aggressively confronting him and initiating the incident.”

Cody Martin was fined for pushing Johnson in response and making contact with a match official.

His twin brother, Caleb Martin, was sanctioned for entering the brawl and making contact with a referee.
