Atlético de Madrid will not be able to count on their starting right-back, Kieran Trippier, for two and a half months. FIFA confirmed on Monday the ten-week sanction imposed on the British defender for a case of illegal gambling when he did not belong to the rojiblanco club. FIFA granted a week ago the precautionary proposal by the English Federation to be able to play again, but has finally ratified the punishment considering that Trippier breached the rules, by recommending a friend to bet on his signing for Atlético himself.

The sanction was imposed on Trippier on December 23, but after being granted the precautionary measure, the British footballer was able to reappear and in the last game against Sevilla he assisted Correa with the first goal and started the 2-0 play marked by Saul. His absence on the right side must be covered by Sime Vrsaljko.
