Facundo Campazzo won on his first visit to the legendary Madison Square Garden

As much as the famous New York Knicks have been little more than the laughingstock of the NBA for years, they do not lose that particular flavor that being the Big Apple franchise gives them. And the magic of its stadium, the mythical Madison Square Garden, is immune to the team’s performances. There was Facundo Campazzo with his Denver Nuggets and he completed a good day.

The Argentine totaled a roster with contributions in various items: he scored 5 points, gave 2 assists, took 2 rebounds and stole 2 balls in 14 minutes during what was a comfortable 114-89 win for his team.

Despite the Knicks’ poor record, this season they had been a pleasant surprise with more wins (5) than losses (4). Quite a success considering that the last time they won more games than they lost was in the 2012/13 season.

However, this irregular Denver showed its best face: that of the team that plays away from home. It happens that the Nuggets suffered four of their five losses in their stadium.

At the Knicks’ home, they imposed the conditions from the beginning and once they took advantage – they put in a 14-5 run to win the first quarter 28-21 – there was practically no more game.

Campazzo entered from the second quarter and there was good signs: He was able to lead the actions, in counterpart to what was seen in many of his minutes, when he was reduced to being a supporting actor who eventually threw triples from the corners.

And from the hand of Cordoba, Michael Malone’s team put in a partial of 15 to 3 that allowed to increase the advantages. It was in that first lapse that he converted his five points, one of them with a beautiful float over humanity from Nerlens Noel, an internal 208 centimeters (almost 30 more than Facundo).

The other annotation from the point guard of the Argentine basketball team came via triple. There could have been another floater, but on that second attempt Campazzo ran into someone who served as a wall better than Noel: Mitchell Robinson.

Campazzo only returned for the last quarter, when the team had already sentenced the lawsuit (82-64 at the end of the first 36 minutes), but in this case he did not have outstanding actions on offense.

Campazzo’s next game will also be in the New York area: on Tuesday, against Brooklyn led by one of his teenage idols, Steve Nash, and commanded by Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, the latter absent in recent games for personal reasons.
